
Here are detailed directions to use ProQuest/elibrary bookcart feature to structure and guide teachers and student in using database and wev content. you can add essential questions and guidance. The process is easier than the directions. The website provides teaching and learning material and web based small group training. Everyone in Washington State should have access to this product through the Statewide Database Licensing Project.Contact the technology person at your local ESD or the statewide coordinator.
ACCESSING ELIBRARY AND SEARCHING/COPYING BOOKCARTS INTO YOUR ELIBRARY ACCOUNT
*INTENDED FOR EDUCATOR USE*
1 -- Access eLibrary
A) You may access eLibrary in any standard way you are accustomed to accessing the database at your school location.
B) If you have not previously accessed eLibrary, go to http://www.proquestk12.com. In the upper left part of the screen, enter first your "user name" and then your "password." Then click the button titled "ProQuest/eLibrary Products."
C) If you do not know your eLibrary "user name" and "password," you may either obtain them from your local ESD, or contact ProQuest Customer Relations at 1-800-521-0600.
NOTE: Please be aware that not all
2 -- Access the eLibrary "Teacher Edition"
A) To access the "Teacher Edition" version of eLibrary, start on the eLibrary search screen (opening screen in eLibrary) and typeone of the following URL's into your browser's address bar. Then hit the enter key:

http://elibrary.bigchalk.com/k6/teacher (for eLibrary Elementary)
http://elibrary.bigchalk.com/curriculum/teacher (for eLibrary Curriculum Edition)
NOTE: eLibrary Curriculum Edition is not a state database but is provided here for schools who may have locally upgraded to this title.
B) Your eLibrary search screen should re-open. Confirm that you are in the "Teacher Edition" of eLibrary by looking in the upper right part of the screen. It should read: "Teacher Edition: BookCart Admin."
NOTE: If your chosen URL does not provide access to the "Teacher Edition," first try one of the other URL's listed. If that does not work, email the ProQuest Training Team at pqtrainingteam@il.proquest.com.
3 -- Access the BookCart Editor
A) Click the link titled "Teacher Edition: BookCart Admin" in the upper right of your eLibrary opening screen.
NOTE: This will open anew browser window on top of eLibrary and take you to the BookCart Editor. Please remain aware of when the BookCart Editor is already open on your computer so that you do not try to open it twice. Always close this window when you are finished working with BookCarts.
4 -- Locate and Copy "ProQuest" title BookCarts to your local account
A) On the "BookCart Editor" screen you should see 5 tabs across the top of the page. Click on the tab titled "ProQuest Carts." A list of over 400 pre-created standards-aligned BookCarts for all subject areas and all grade levels are provided.
B) You may browse the list alphabetically by scrolling through and clicking the page number links on the bottom of each screen.
C) You may also search by "Title," "Subject," or "Author" using the search field at the top of the list.
D) You may view the contents of any BookCart by clicking on its title and clicking the option titled "View" on the resulting screen. The cart views in anew viewing window. After viewing, close the viewing window by clicking the Windows "X" in the far upper right corner of the window.
E) To copy a ProQuest BookCart to your local account, first make sure you are on the "ProQuest Carts" list and you see your desired BookCart title on the screen.
F) To copy, find the title you wish to copy and follow across to the right hand column titled "Actions."
G) Click the middle icon (illustrated by a small document image). You will get a messaged asking if you wish to proceed. Click "OK."
H) A screen will load indicating that you have successfully copied the BookCart. On that screen, either click the link at the bottom left titled "Back to BookCarts page," or if you wish to exit, click the link in the upper right titled "Log Out," then the link titled "close this browser window."
YOUR BOOKCART WILL NOW BE IN YOUR LOCAL ACCOUNT READY FOR STUDENTS TO ACCESS!
5 -- Locate and Copy non-ProQuest title BookCarts to your local account
A) If you are not already in the BookCart Editor of eLibrary, please repeat steps 1-3 above.
B) On the "BookCart Editor" screen you should see 5 tabs across the top of the page. Click the tab titled "Advanced Search."
C) Search for non-ProQuest title BookCarts by using the "Title," "Author," "Grade," "Subject," or "Description" fields, then click "Search."
D) Once your search is complete, you may browse the list alphabetically by scrolling through and clicking the page number links on the bottom of each screen.
E) You may view the contents of any BookCart by clicking on its title and clicking the option titled "View" on the resulting screen. The cart views in anew viewing window. After viewing, close the viewing window by clicking the Windows "X" in the far upper right corner of the window.
F) To copy, find the title in the search results list you wish to copy and follow across to the right hand column titled "Actions."
