
The Eleanor Ahlers Scholarship was conceived in 1976 in honor of Eleanor Ahlers, a long-time professor of library science at the University of Washington. It was awarded for the first time in 1991 as an annual award.
The scholarship requires the following eligibility:
The recipient must be a resident of Washington State.
The recipient must be an experienced librarian with a minimum of 3 years.
The recipient should have been admitted to a graduate school to work toward an advanced degree or to do planned individual research, study or work program at the graduate level.
The recipient should have worthy professional goals.
The recipient should show evidence of contribution to the profession.
The recipient will have an interview with the scholarship committee at a mutually agreed time and place.
