NEW!!! Washington State Informational Text Award

WLMA is happy to announce the creation of a new state award for Informational Text for students in grades 2 through 6. Patterned after the Sasquatch and WCCPBA awards, the list of nominees will be curated by a group of public and school librarians, and the winner will be chosen by the students of Washington. Further details– including the name of the award– still need to be determined, and towards that end WLMA is forming an exploratory committee.

If you’d like to get in on the ground floor of this exciting new award for non-fiction, please contact Carter Kemp (carterkemp@gmail.com).

With the Common Core emphasis expressed throughout the state, there is no better time than now for this award. Once again, Teacher Librarians are stepping up through WLMA to support education initiatives. More will be shared as plans are made!
