Classroom Based Assessments

Teacher Librarians are willing and able to assist students and teachers with the Washington State Social Studies Classroom Based Assessments ( CBAs). A statewide task force is providing common resources and strategies for student achievement. We provide presentations, ideas, pathfinders of common topics, and advice for teachers and schools. Thank you for using our materials and thank a Teacher Librarian if you are using these resources.

ALA Grant for Pathfinders WLMA has received a $5000 grant to make quality pathfinders to help students. The ALA Carnegie-Whitney grant will be January 2007-December 2007. Nadean Meyer is WLMA Project Manager.

Teacher Librarians who wish to make pathfinders for the stipend should look at the models and rubric and contact the project manager. Further information on grants page

The Washington State K12 Library Initiative 2002-2005 trained over 500 TLs to work collaboratively. The pyramid of levels of collaboration is a great starting place.

Wenatchee SD has a great history of working together to provide resources, information literacy skills and a scafflolding of resources through pathfinders.

Wenatchee provides online resources for all steps of the Big6 Process

Bellingham SD has a research model and materials.
Bellevue SD adopted information literacy benchmarks 2006
Anacortes High School uses the Big 6 model for pathfinders
Cheney SD has a common research model.

•Process oriented - research and higher level thinking
•Scored by teachers; each CBA has a detailed rubric
•Reported to OSPI by districts
