Is it too late to propose a concurrent session for the 2009 WLMA conference? Yes. 2. What do I need to know as a concurrent session presenter? The WLMA annual conference strives to keep costs as low as possible so that districts may send teams of participants. Therefore, presenters will not be financially reimbursed for travel, lodging, presentation preparation, or conference registration fees.Email a copy of your handouts to Kari Madrinich at madrinich.kari@yakimaschools.org by September 25th so that they can be posted on the conference website. You will be responsible for copying your handout in sufficient quantity for your session. WLMA will reimburse printing costs up to $50.00. Present your receipt at registration desk for reimbursement. Presenters may not charge for handouts. You will be notified of the capacity of your session after the submission deadline and the acceptance of your proposal. All presenters are expected to register for the conference. 3. Who do I need to contact if I want to volunteer for the conference? If you are interested in hosting a session, please email Lorrie Monprode at iread4u@comcast.net . For other opportunities, see the committee member listing on the website and email the person responsible for that session 4. How do I register for the conference? Online registration is now available. Please use the form online on the Registration or the Home page of the conference website. Please go to the WLMA membership link first to set up your email and pass word for registering for conference. 5. How do I reserve a hotel room for the conference? See the hotels page of the website 6. Where is the 2009 WLMA conference? The conference will be held at the Yakima Convention Center and the Yakima Red Lion Hotel in Yakima, Washington 7. Who are the speakers presenting at the keynote speech, banquet and meals? See the program page of the website 8. Where can I find the schedule of concurrent sessions? The session schedule will be available in September. 9. Where should I park if I am coming to the conference for the day? Parking is free in the lots next to the Yakima Convention Center. If you look at this Google map of the Convention Center you can see parking lots to the east and north of the Center 10. What are my options for eating in Yakima? See the restaurant information provided by the Yakima Valley Visitors and Convention Bureau 11. How can I get from Seattle to Yakima? Driving from Seattle to Yakima (approximately 145 miles) can take 2 1/2 to 3 hours, taking I-90 East to Ellensburg, then I-82 East (really south) to Yakima. If you are flying into Seattle, you can take the Airporter Shuttle to Yakima from Sea-Tac Airport. Submit your purchase order with your registration form and mail to the address on the form. 13. What does it mean to host a session? Hosting a session involves helping the presenter with any needs, which may include passing out evaluation forms, managing the capacity of the room, or passing out handouts. It also guarantees you a free seat at the session 14. How do I sign up for a vendor booth? Vendor registration is now open. See the Exhibits webpage for more information 15. How do I find the Convention Center and hotel? Here is a Google map showing the Convention Center and Red Lion Hotel. If you use the Zoom In function, you can see parking lots to the east and north of the Convention Center 16. How do I make changes to my registration? Contact Pat McKinley at pamckinley@aol.com . You may register onsite. 18. How can I preorder books by attending authors and keynote speakers? Inklings will be the book vender for conference again this year. All books purchased for your library will receive their Educator Discount of 15%. You can pre-order, and they will have the books shipped to your school ahead of time. They will still post a "shopping list" of books that will be available so that you can plan your ordering. See the Book Sales link on the conference page for more information from Inklings in Yakima.
