Why do I need to use the official ballot?
When totaling the votes from over 450 schools it makes it easier if the books all come in the same order. When books are listed out of order, or if books are missing from the school ballots, it takes 3-4 times as long to post those votes. Please include ALL books on the list, even if you didn't get the books or they didn't get a vote. Zeros are just as important when tallying the votes!
I emailed my votes in. Do I need to mail them also?
Please, NO! It just takes that much extra time to double check for duplicates. Do one or the other. Email is preferred.
Will you please let me know when you get my votes?
Unfortunately it is impossible, particularly the last week, to acknowledge each email received. (I got over 200 in one day!) Let the system do the work. If it doesn't bounce, then I received it. I will contact you if you have not attached your ballot or there is some other problem.
Why do I need to send in the total number of votes?
Having librarians total their school's votes provides an easy way to double check as votes are being entered. The spreadsheet adds up as votes are entered. If my total and your total match, then the next book can be entered. The votes only have to be double-checked if the two totals don't match.
Why do you want the city or district?
We have many schools with duplicate names. This helps keep them straight and to be sure a school is not entered twice.
How/when will we know what the winner is?
The winner will usually be announced within 2 weeks after the end of voting. There will an announcement both on the WLMA listserv and on the WCCPBA section of wlma.org.
